What's been happening in the Better Together project
Catch up on recent events, community input, and milestones as we work together to shape a shared vision for the 98848 region.
Over the last year, several hundred people around Quincy, George, Sunland, and Crescent Bar participated in focus groups, listening sessions, and community conversations — the latest step in a community visioning process that has been building since 2019.
Across these sessions, Quincy was represented by a mix of voices, backgrounds, industries, and generations. The conversations made something clear: people want positive growth, but not at the expense of this agriculturally rich, small-town heart of this community.
Better Together 98848 is creating a community plan with actions that will help us move into the future in an intentional and inclusive way. Please weigh in on this plan by taking this brief survey. English here. Spanish here.

Results will be shared back with the community through the 98848vision.org and at a variety of events throughout 2026!
Better Together is hosting two community action planning dinners on March 9th and April 13th, from 5:30-8:30 pm at the Quincy Business & Event Center! These events will be held in English and Spanish, and dinner will be provided. The meetings will focus on key themes brought up in prior community listening sessions. Attendees will participate in small-group conversations where they will work together to identify what to prioritize in our community and refine Better Together 98848’s action plan. All community members are encouraged to join one or both sessions!
The Quincy Valley Post-Register highlighted Better Together 98848 in December 2025. The article detailed Better Together 98848’s journey from cultivating ideas through community engagement to all the accomplishments made in 2025. The article highlighted the logo contest, creation of the community calendar, continuation of community engagement, what’s happening next, and why this project matters to the community. On September 13, 2025, Better Together 98848 had a table at Quincy Farmer Consumer Awareness Day. The team had the opportunity to chat with the community. They had interactive data collection where community members shared thoughts on ideas they thought would benefit the community. Community members were taught how to download the community calendar. We talked with about 200 peope throughout the day.
Between June and July, Better Together 98848 invited community members to help shape the visual identity of the project through a regional Logo Competition. The goal was to create a logo that reflects the values of connection and collaboration across Quincy, George, Crescent Bar, Sunland Estates, and surrounding areas.The contest was open to anyone who lives, works, or attends school in the 98848 zip code—and the response was inspiring. Fourteen submissions were received, showcasing creativity, local pride, and a shared vision for the future.Winning entries received the following prizes:
- 1st Place: $500 (Kylie Youngren)
- 2nd Place: $250 (Holly Petersen McClure)
- 3rd Place: $100 (Oscar Romero)
The selected design will serve as the foundation for the Better Together 98848 brand and will be featured in the upcoming community calendar and project website.
