The 98848 Community Visioning Project is dedicated to crafting a cohesive vision for the communities within the 98848 zip code area.

98848 Community Visioning

Purpose

Community visioning is a collaborative process where a community creates and leads the change they want to see.  Residents are engaged in co-designing a vision, and have opportunities to build diverse relationships with their neighbors throughout the interactive process.   A community vision creates a clear focus for people, organizations, and agencies, providing direction and clarity for goal setting and strategic decision making. It also helps to identify what makes the area unique and supports community resilience and pride because the region adopts a plan that outlines who they are and what they want to be.

The 98848 Visioning Project will engage deeply with the communities in the region to share dreams and priorities that reflect the unique character and aspirations of the people who live here.  The end goal is a collaborative plan that could be adopted by our whole area for how we grow and work together in the future.

Process

Discovery

The Discovery Phase is all about listening to the community and understanding the current landscape of the 98848 region. Through community meetings, interviews, and surveys, we’ll gather input on local opportunities, challenges, and ideas for the future. This information will help create a clear picture of where the region stands today—what’s working, what needs attention, and what changes people hope to see. The insights we collect will be used as the foundation for the next phase.

Visioning

The Visioning Phase is where we take what we’ve learned and start shaping a shared vision for the future. We’ll bring the broader community together for a hands-on workshop to explore ideas and create a collective vision that reflects the hopes and priorities of the 98848 region.

Adoption

For the Community Vision to take root, a local organization—or a group of organizations—will need to embrace it and help guide its progress. These future stewards of the vision will be identified through the Discovery and Visioning phases, ensuring that the vision has committed champions who will help bring it to life by working with regional partners and the community to make the vision a reality.
